[NEWS] Reboot of Ufo Robo Grendizer: Grendizer Giga Manga in September.
The October issue of Akita Shoten’s Champion RED magazine is announcing on Tuesday that Go Nagai will launch the Grendizer Giga manga in the following issue on September 19. The first chapter will be 43 pages with a color opening page.
The story will be a full reboot of Nagai’s UFO Robo Grendizer story. When a great fleet of flying saucers invades Earth, it awakens the true power of Daisuke Uryū. (The main lead of UFO Robo Grendizer was named Daisuke Umon.)
UFO Robo Grendizer was the third installment of Nagai’s Mazinger giant robot franchise. The original Grendizer anime and manga launched in 1975, and the anime was later imported to the United States as part of Jim Terry’s Force Five project. It would also inspire three anime films.
Nagai launched the autobiographical manga Gekiman! ~Mazinger Z no Shō~ (Gekiman!: Mazinger Z Chapter) in Nihonbungeisha’s Weekly Manga Goraku last month. The autobiographical manga reveals the untold story of the creation of Nagai’s Mazinger Z manga.
Nagai ended his Cutey Honey vs Devilman Lady manga last October. He served as a member of the nominating committee for the 18th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prizes this year.
