Furthermore, this year’s Gunpla Expo will be travelling across several Japanese cities and unveiling new and upcoming Gunpla models. Having already reached Nagoya, Fukuoka and Sendai throughout the year, the Expo will be arriving in Sapporo on August 28-September 13, Hiroshima on September 18-October 12 and Osaka on November 5-9. Other projects include the aforementioned Gunpla sets receiving recolored palettes that have yet to be revealed.

With a major Gunpla event like the Gunpla Expo currently under way, July 25 also saw an exhibition at Gundam Front Tokyo, attended by several celebrities such as GARNiDELiA (the artist behind the second opening for Kill la Kill), Shaman King author Hiroyuki Takei and Rena Matsui from SKE48. The July 31 event will be attended by other stars like J-rock band SUPER BEAVER and SKE48’s Sumire Satō and Marika Tani.

Lastly, a new memorial event is in the works between Bandai and Bandai Namco for November known as Gunpla Battle Project Type Bond. In this special project, fans can create battles and scenarios with their own Gunpla models and submit them. Those chosen will have their battle realized through CGI, and with a special arcade-like console, be able to act out the fight piloting their own Gunpla as if it were a real Gundam.

The official Gundam Channel previously streamed an impressive video for its Real Grade 1:144-scale Gundam Astray Red Frame model. The ad blends CG elements to bring the model to life in a stunning array of sword-based combat.
