Like many other companies, Yumi’s (Anchalee Saengtai) business started in the back of a garage, in 2002; now it is an efficiently running family business with two shops: one on a prime location in Bangkok (corner of Sukhumvit soi 7, see map below) at the Nana BTS station, and the second shop at the famous Chatuchak tourist market in Bangkok, near the Chatuchak BTS station.

The company founder Yumi and her sister Fon take care of the shops in Bangkok, and her brother coordinates the design and construction. With the construction-teams in place now, every month 4 to 5 big statues can be produced, together with dozens of medium sized ones and about a hundred smaller sized statues. Below are some snapshots of the factory and its workers.

Transformers Masterpiece is a sub-line of the Transformers series by Hasbro and Takara/Takara Tomy. The Masterpiece series consists of redesigned toys of famous characters in the Transformers: Generation 1 toy line, as well as the live-action film series. The line’s toys are larger, more detailed, more complex to transform, and more posable than their original versions, but their appearances have been kept as close to the original on-screen characters as possible. The Japanese toy maker Takara Tomy posted a picture on its Twitter account on Tuesday of the completed life-sized snow sculpture bust of the Transformers franchise character Optimus Prime. The sculpture will appear at this year’s Asahikawa Winter Festival.

Artists sculpted the giant robot from a 16-meter (about 53-foot) snow mound. Construction crews began piling snow on January 6, started work on the character’s head on January 10, and raised trusses on January 19 to continue the sculpture.

The 53rd annual Asahikawa Winter Festival will take place in Asahikawa, Hokkaido Prefecture from February 8 to 12.
