This is the first REVIEW for HGCE Z’Gok (SEED FREEDOM Ver.) with test shots! A deep look into what you can’t see just from the outside
The Z’Gok, which made a shocking appearance in the film Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, which was the center of attention throughout 2024, has finally been made into an HG kit. Following the release of the package image, this article brings you an advance review using test shots. Let’s take a closer look at what can’t be seen just from the outside! Comments from the development team at BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division have also arrived.
Although it is called the “SEED FREEDOM Ver.”, its form is exactly the same as the Z’Gok that appeared in “Mobile Suit Gundam”. Of course, the entire body is made using a new mold. The backpack, which instantly gives off a “Gundam SEED feel” when worn, comes with the same “Volantes” as the HG Infinite Justice Gundam Nishiki.
The inside of the fuselage reproduces the head and torso of the Infinite Justice Gundam Nishiki!! This is a new model sculpted specifically for this kit, but it can also be replaced with the one from the HG Infinite Justice Gundam Nishiki (sold separately).
By replacing the head with a damaged part, you can recreate the scene in the climax of the movie where he saves Kira from a difficult situation!
The legs also have frame parts built in that mimic the Infinite Justice Gundam Type-2. In addition, the soles of the shoes, which can be seen in the video, are made of separate parts to recreate the shape and coloring. The attention to detail is amazing!
The “SEED Action System” allows for flexible and dynamic posing. The wings of the Volantes can be deployed in an X-shape. Beam riser/slasher mode beam blade effect parts are included.
The claws on his arms are red-hot, and the base can be replaced to recreate battle scenes from the film.
Comment from the Hobby Division Development Team at BANDAI SPIRITS
I think fans were interested in how the setting of the Infinite Justice Gundam Nishiki (Type II) being stored inside would be interpreted in Gunpla. If the Infinite Justice Gundam Nishiki was included in its entirety, the shape and movement of the Z’Gok would be ruined, but not including it would feel like a loss… I think we were able to create a product specification that was satisfactory, despite the dilemma.
There are many points of attention to detail, such as movement and accessories, but as for the parts that were not fully described on the Bandai Hobby Site, there is a pull-out gimmick around the front skirt and ankles, which allows the Z’Gok to stand on its knees and ground stably. Although this item was commercialized at short notice, it is a product that was made with great attention to detail.
The Z’Gok itself was a bizarre existence, so everyone involved came up with bizarre ideas that would never have been used in Gunpla before, and I remember having fun developing and promoting the product. I would never normally vote for the package, so… I am grateful to Z’Gok for reminding me once again of the importance of “having fun while developing products.”
