To celebrate its 35th anniversary, the Nasu Highland Park amusement facility is offering a “Mobile Suit Gundam” special exhibition at its newly renovated Bandai Character Toy Stadium attraction in Nasu, Tochigi Prefecture.

The highlight of the exhibition, which is scheduled to run through January 2015, is the life-sized “Zaku Repair Bay.” Fans of the series can gaze upon a huge life-sized bust of a Zaku, Gundam’s main adversary from the “Mobile Suit Gundam” robot anime series.

It is the first ever life-sized Zaku model. A giant 1:1 scale statue of Gundam currently stands in Tokyo’s Odaiba district.

The exhibition also includes new areas featuring memorable scenes from the anime series such as timelines, lots of plastic models and toys, and a large diorama. With the new exhibition, the amusement park is certainly a must-visit for hardcore Gundam fans.

Admission to the exhibit is free, but visitors need to pay admission to enter the amusement park.

The Bandai Character Toy Stadium has attracted about 400,000 visitors since it opened in 2012. Nasu Highland Park is one of the largest amusement parks in eastern Japan.

“Mobile Suit Gundam” started its run in 1979, also celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. [via ajw.asahi.com]
