The second “Gunpla Builders World Cup” competition for Gundam plastic model construction will take place at the Gundam Front Tokyo entertainment complex on Tokyo’s artificial island of Odaiba this December. Representatives from 13 countries or areas will compete in this year’s competition: Japan, Italy, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, North America, China, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Thailand.

Similarly to last year’s competition, this year’s competition will have two classes. The ‘open course’ will be available for contestants aged 15 and older, and the ‘junior course’ will be open for contestants aged 14 and younger. The Japanese regional finals will have three stages of judging beginning in May with the finalist being chosen this fall.

Ho Yick Yin of Malaysia competed against eleven other regional finalists and won the open course in last year’s world championship held in Hong Kong. The Chinese representative won the junior course for last year’s championship competition.
