gpo144’s semi-scratch / custom build 1/144 GAZA-M (Marine Type)

gpo144’s semi-scratch / custom build 1/144 AMX-003M GAZA-M (Marine Type) based on vintage gunpla 1/144 GAZA-D: images, full info and credits

From the Modeler:

I tried to recreate it by scratching using plastic sheets and the legs of the old Gaza D kit.

“AMX-003M Gaza M (Marine Type)” is a mecha that appears in A.O.Z Re-Boot. The model number “AMX-003M” makes it seem like it’s based on the Gaza C, but it’s actually an MS or MA for underwater use based on the original Gaza A.

“Let’s make a Gaza E from the old Gaza D kit! But the legs and other parts are surplus, so it’s a waste, so why not make a Gaza M at the same time?” That’s how I made it.

Borrowed the old Gaza D kit. I used different parts for the Gaza E and Gaza M.

The body is a lump of plastic sheet. The head is from a Zaku, or rather the top part of the buff. The monoeye is attached by painting a plastic rod fluorescent pink.
The legs, or rather the claws, are based on those of the Gaza D, but the shape has been significantly changed using plastic sheet. I think I managed to recreate the red parts on both sides quite well… and I’m quite satisfied with the result.

The huge binders on the left and right were made using plastic sheet, with the Gaza D binder as the core, and the shape was significantly altered.

The quadruple missile launcher hanging from the belly was recreated using PVC pipes and plastic sheet. To make it look like the machines that appear in A.O.Z, it was mounted using parts from other A.O.Z kits.

The black booster extending from the back is made of PVC pipe. Plastic paper was wrapped around it so that the paint would adhere. A third-party thruster is attached to the rear end.

The small booster on the bottom of the body is also recreated using PVC pipes and plastic sheet.

The periscope (?) on the back (?) is a part that is attached to the Gaza D’s booster.
The triangular tip that protrudes forward from the body is also made of plastic sheet. The small manipulators on either side are made to look similar using plastic rods and plastic sheet.

The power pipes are made from dressmaking rubber string, as usual.

Other shape changes have been made in various places, and the amount of information has been increased by adding more detailed parts and attaching plastic plates.  As usual, the entire model was painted with a brush using water-based hobby paints. It was inked with watercolors, decals were applied and finished with a matte top coat.

The main color is “H56 Medium Blue”. Since I had been planning to build a Gaza M myself, I had been researching for a while which water-based hobby paint blue would be closest to the color of the main body

The Zeon Mars markings are Gundam decals, and the majority are caution marks from Good Mark Decals.
