From “Double-Fake Under The Gundam” Manga: gpo144’s remodeling work HGUC 1/144 AMX-011C Zaku-III Type C. Images, full info and credits
From the Modeler:
After extensively modifying the form of the HG Zaku III, I tried to make it look like the machine that appears in “Double Fake.”
Double-Fake Under The Gundam is an original Gundam manga created by Yuji Ushida, originally published in Bandai’s Model Journal magazine. After the story was completed it was compiled under the title Double-Fake: Under the Gundam.
The “AMX-011C Late Type Zaku III” is a modified Zaku III that appears in the manga “Double Fake Under the Gundam” (Double Fake). The image by mecha designer Fukuchi is quite distinctive, so I tried to recreate it by making various adjustments. . . Around the same time, I extensively modified the form of the HG Zaku III Custom, as if to create my favorite style of Zaku III in the world, but I got carried away and ended up with an MS that was even cooler than I expected, so I tried modifying the mass-produced Zaku III in the same way.
I couldn’t help but worry about the following points about the HG Zaku III, so I focused on these points when modifying it. 1. Huge slippers 2. Gaps around the shins like “short-hemmed pants for growing elementary school kids” 3. Thin waist 4. Small upper body
Unlike the HG Zaku III “modified”, I didn’t really like the design of the HG Zaku III head, so I cut off the top half and attached a widened helmet from the old Sazabi kit. By the way, if I liked the head design enough to use it as is, I was planning to convert it into the Sleeved Zaku III that appears in Gundam UC. . .
I carved down the base of the legs to make it more “V-shaped”.
I rounded the knee armor to look like the image. I modified the shoulder parts of the Geara Doga.
I attached plastic sheets here and there to make the area below the knee larger.
I cut the front of the slippers, then used plastic sheets to change the shape to look more like a Sazabi or Dreissen.
I also modified the ankle attachment so that the sole of the foot would touch the ground more naturally. The left shoulder armor is based on that of the Hobby Hizack and made from plastic sheet. Spikes from the kit and Gunpla option parts are attached.
As usual, plastic sheet is attached to make it look like a clenched fist. Also, the sleeve(?) area is made larger using plastic sheet.
The shoulder attachment has been moved about 5mm higher.
The square block on the shoulder has been enlarged using plastic sheet.
The shield on the right shoulder is pretty much the same as in the kit. A protrusion whose purpose is unclear(?) has been reproduced. ….
The backpack has been replaced with one from a Zaku III Custom. However, the shape has been changed slightly, such as removing the propellant tanks and turning it upside down.
The neck has been extended slightly so that the chin can be retracted.
The upper body has been made 5mm wider using plastic sheet. The area below the bust has also been made more volume using plastic sheet.
The abdomen has been made 5mm wider using plastic sheet. The attachment of the abdominal power pipe on the back has also been changed to reduce the thinness of the waist.
The lower body is pretty much the same as in the kit. The front armor was reshaped using plastic sheet to resemble Fukuchi’s image.
The beam rifle is based on the one from the HG Hizack, but is processed using plastic sheet to recreate the beam machine gun for the late-model Zaku III.
Otherwise, plastic sheets and third-party detail-up parts are attached here and there to increase the amount of detail.
As usual, the entire thing was painted with a brush using water-based hobby colors. Inked with watercolors, decals were applied, and finished with a matte top coat.
The main color is a mixture of white and a little blue, which was mixed when making the mass-produced Nu Gundam. The navy blue is “H-42 blue gray”.
All the decals are robot decals.
A snap of the MS that appear in “Double Fake”. . . I’ve made quite a few changes to each one. . . Soon we’ll be able to line up the D Gundams.
I made a major overhaul of the HG Zaku III’s form and added a lot of modifications to create the “AMX-011C Late Type Zaku III” style from “Double Fake”. I think I was able to recreate the color scheme quite well.
